Google will pay you to expose ALL of your online activity!
I just read an article (Google offering to pay web users to track their every move | Technology News Blog - Yahoo! News) and it seems that Google has opened a pilot program that offers cash incentives to track all of you online activity! The current option will pay you $5 Amazon gift cards every 3 months (up to $25) if you use a special Google Chrome plugin. This plugin will send Google information regarding ALL of your online activity like all the websites you go to, files you've downloaded, etc.
I'm officially worried for anyone who signs up for this!! There might be some questionable websites you visit and don't even think about...porn for one example.
Google plans to offer another option in the future that contains a physical device that connects to your modem that does the same thing, but will now track usage for all computers connected to it. That service will pay you $100 to sign up and $20 per month afterward up to one year.
Neither of these sound options sound like they're worth it.

i can guarantee that this will ultimately end up with someone getting busted in a criminal case because they were doing research on how to decompose a body or something!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that this service will have some negative side effects, but hey if you're willing to sign up and you have no clue (or don't care) what information you're putting out there, then maybe this isn't for you. Heck, maybe the Internet isn't for you.
